Flying Scotsman – the world’s most famous steam locomotive – made its first appearance in a year-long national programme of events to mark its centenary today at London King’s Cross Station.
Rail passengers will suffer fresh misery on Saturday because of strikes by train drivers, with more industrial action planned in the coming weeks amid the worsening disputes over jobs, pay and conditions.
A locomotive which for 18 years has proudly carried ‘our’ name – The Railway Magazine – has been rededicated with additional nameplates to mark the magazine’s 125th anniversary thanks to operator Freightliner.
