A Swanage Railway volunteer who travelled on the last British Rail train from Swanage to Wareham as a child in 1972 will be the conductor driver on the first Swanage Railway passenger train into Wareham using the heritage line’s 1950s diesel train.
The Severn Valley Railway has revealed that Class 58 No 58023 will make its first-ever appearance in preservation at the SVR’s forthcoming Spring Diesel Festival between 18th and 21st May.
