The world’s most famous steam locomotive ‘Flying Scotsman’ has arrived on the Swanage Railway for an historic visit with the record-breaking icon hauling trains for five days and being on public display for the public to visit its footplate for almost two weeks.
Flying Scotsman – the world’s most famous steam locomotive – made its first appearance in a year-long national programme of events to mark its centenary today at London King’s Cross Station.
The contract with the firm running the Caledonian Sleeper will end in June of next year, the Scottish Government has said, with a senior SNP MSP claiming there is an “opportunity” for public ownership.
