In conjunction with the Stratford Class 47 Group, the Mid Norfolk Railway held a Stratford Class 47- running day on February 28 using visiting 47580 County of Essex and home-based 47596 Aldeburgh Festival (masquerading as 47584 County of Suffolk for the day on one side only). Steam monopoly ended at Bluebell
The first diesel-hauled passenger train on the Bluebell Railway ran on March 7 when 73136 Perseverance worked a return trip from Sheffield Park to Kingscote. The ED leaves Sharpthorne Tunnel and passes the site of West Hoathley Station on the 1230 Sheffield Park-Kingscote. Paul Winter.

Typical of the sort of train that will transfer is the summer-only service from Ustka on the Baltic coast to Krakow in southern Poland. Co-Co electric ET22 969 stands at Ustka on August 2 2008 with R83504, the 1822 to Krakow Plasow. Keith Fender.

234 passenger swansong
234467 hauls EC46 Warszawa-Berlin through Berlin Friedrichstraße on March 27 2008. The remaining of 234s face an uncertain future with all locos due overhaul next year and following the end of diversions of Berlin-Poland trains in December, these locos now have no booked passenger turns.
