Aventras for South West Franchise

FirstGroup and MTR, the new franchisees for the South West franchise, has ordered 90 Bombardier Aventra EMUs worth £895 million for commuter services out of London Waterloo.  The units will number 750 vehicles, split between five- and ten-car units.  They will provide a 46% increase in peak capacity on the suburban routes into Waterloo.  They are due to enter service from mid-2019 and will all be delivered by December 2020 for use on the Windsor, Reading and West London suburban routes.
